Marguerite G. Bagshaw Collection

The Lillian H. Smith Library is home to the Marguerite G. Bagshaw Collection of puppetry, creative drama and theatre for children.

This is a reference collection used by children's literature students, researchers and scholars, authors, illustrators and publishers, teachers, storytellers, puppeteers and actors. It includes puppet shows which are created and used by children's staff.

Marguerite Bagshaw had been the head of Reading Services for the library and "an eminent proponent of the use of puppetry and storytelling in work with children." After her death, a fund-raising drive created the trust fund that endows this important contribution to the Toronto Public Library.
