Book Club Sets - FAQ

  1. What is a Book Club Set?
    A Book Club Set consists of multiple copies of a book (up to 12), for use by book clubs and book discussion groups.

  3. Who can check out Book Club Sets?
    Book Club Sets can be borrowed by any book club. Members of the club can check out a single copy or several copies of a title for distribution to club members.
  4. Who is responsible for returning books in a Book Club Set?
    The person who checks out the book or books in the Book Club Set is responsible for returning the book(s) to the branch from which they were borrowed.
  5. Where can I pick up Book Club Sets?
    Book Club Sets may be picked up at any of the six branches that own book club collections - Albert Campbell, Barbara Frum, Bloor Gladstone, North York Central - Languages Literature & Fine Arts Dept., Northern District, Richview and S. Walter Stewart, as well as at Bloor Gladstone.
  6. Where can I return Book Club Sets?
    Book Club Sets must be returned to the branch from which they were borrowed.
  7. Can I reserve Book Club Sets in advance?
    Yes. Contact the branch that owns the Book Club Set you are interested in and staff will be pleased to reserve the set for your book club. It is not possible for customers to place holds on Book Club Sets on their own through the Catalogue.
  8. How long can my book club keep the books in the Book Club Set?
    Book Club Set copies are checked out for six weeks.
  9. Can we renew books in a Book Club Set?
    No. Books in Book Club Sets cannot be renewed. The loan period cannot be extended in order to ensure that the set is available for use by other book clubs.
  10. What is the late charge for a book in a Book Club Set?
    The late charge is 40 cents per day per book. It is important to return all books in a Book Club Set on time as other book clubs may have reserved the Set.
