Why did you change the library catalogue?
The updated version of the catalogue launched in December 2008 features improvements that resolve many issues identified by customers after the new library catalogue launched in February 2008. These include improvements to the Your Account section, managing your holds, searching, and visual design.
Did you test the new version of the catalogue?
The library conducted two weeks of beta testing with over 200 catalogue users. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and as a result, the library decided to launch the new version of the catalogue to the full public.
How can I bookmark the catalogue?
A permanent link feature on catalogue pages makes it easy to bookmark or save links to individual items or search results. Simply click on the Link to This Page link located near the top right of the screen.
The catalogue/website seems very slow.
We're sorry for any inconvenience due to slow response time.
Issues with slow response time are affecting only some customers. To help us investigate, please contact us with details about the time of day, your computer setup (operating system, browser, Internet service provider, firewall, etc.), and specific pages or actions on our catalogue or website that are slow to respond.
Are you using the Windows Vista operating system? Some customers have found have found Microsoft's support site to be helpful in troubleshooting slow response times.
Are you using the Linux operating system? Please see our fix for this on our main Troubleshooting page.
Why doesn't the Library Elf service work with my TPL account anymore?
We are not sure why the recent changes to our catalogue have impacted Library Elf, since we are still using the same technology we have had in place since February 2008. Library Elf is a private company not affiliated with TPL.
Email notification for holds and overdue items is available directly from your account. Enter your email address under the Account Settings tab to begin receiving email notices.
What happened to the My List function?
Unfortunately, our new system does not offer the My List function. As an alternative, you can use the Link to This Page feature to save links to specific items or search results lists. Add the links to your browser’s bookmarks/favorites or to an online bookmarking service like Delicious.
How come I can't use my browser's Back button in the catalogue?
We know this can be frustrating, but you have to use the catalogue's own Back button.
TIP: If you do accidentally use the browser Back button and the page is not displaying, hit your browser's Refresh button to bring the page up.
Is there a way for me to suggest new books for the library's collection?
We plan to make an online form available that will allow you to suggest that the Library purchase items that are not currently in our collection. Please watch for an update on the time line for this enhancement and other changes to services.
